Pair of lounge chairs / easy chairs, wood, fabric, by american designer Norman Bel Geddes , designed in 1949. The design is simplistic with sharp lines.
Frame and tappered conical legs made of wood and upholstered seats made of loop fabric in orange-red and green (original upholstry), and in very good condition.
Bel Geddes (1893-1958), described in his book 'Horizons' (1932) his design philosophy of Streamlining which resulted in the eponymous design style of the 1930s. These chairs are a wonderful example of his design. The thick seats and backrests are teardrop shaped, a form he believed was superior.
These chairs are very rare.
